Tinubu highlights benefits of breastfeeding during world breastfeeding week
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has encouraged mothers, especially those breastfeeding, to make breastfeeding a priority because it helps children grow healthy and strong.
In her message to mark the 2026 World Breastfeeding Week, celebrated from August 1 to August 7, she joined people around the world in supporting this year’s theme: “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
According to the First Lady, breastfeeding gives children a healthy start in life and supports their growth and development. She said it is an important investment in the future of families and the nation.
Senator Tinubu also advised breastfeeding mothers to maintain healthy lifestyles by eating nutritious foods. She said good nutrition helps improve the health of both mothers and their babies.
“I encourage mothers, especially lactating mothers, to embrace healthy lifestyles and eat nutritious foods for their well-being and that of their children,” she said.
She also wished all Nigerians a happy World Breastfeeding Week and encouraged families to support mothers in giving babies the best possible start in life through breastfeeding.
