“Tinubu Has Shown He’s the Owner of the Game, We Should Start a Tinubu School of Politics and Strategy” — Reuben Abati
Veteran journalist and former presidential aide, Reuben Abati, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has firmly established himself as a dominant force in Nigerian politics following the outcome of the ruling APC presidential primary.
Speaking during Monday’s edition of the Morning Show on Arise News, Abati said Tinubu’s overwhelming victory in the primary election demonstrated an unmatched level of political influence and strategic control ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the veteran broadcaster, the president’s performance in the primary was so remarkable that it could inspire the creation of a “Tinubu school of politics and strategy.”
“I think we should get to a point in this country where we should start a Tinubu school of politics and strategy, because what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done over the weekend is to show that he’s the owner of the game,” Abati stated during the programme.
He pointed to the huge gap between Tinubu’s reported 11 million votes and the little over 1,000 votes allegedly secured by his challenger, Stanley Osifo, saying the result sends a powerful signal to opposition parties and aspirants preparing for the next presidential election.
Abati noted that opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, would now be forced to confront the political weight Tinubu commands within his own party structure.
He described the outcome as a “demonstration effect,” suggesting that any opposition coalition hoping to unseat the president in 2027 would have to outperform the numbers already recorded in the APC primary.
Despite praising Tinubu’s political strength, Abati also questioned the credibility and transparency of the voting figures released after the exercise.
He argued that some of the party’s primary elections over the weekend exposed serious challenges in simple vote counting and result collation.
“And yet during the various events that you have seen over the weekend, to even count 1,2,3, basic arithmetic, which you start primary school with, was a problem for that particular political party,” he added.
