Popular Nigerian comedian Akpororo has defended his colleague, Anita Asuoha, Real Warri Pikin, urging her to stop apologizing over her viral on-stage moment with singer Timaya at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in Dallas, Texas.
The controversy began over the weekend after a video surfaced online showing Real Warri Pikin joining Timaya on stage during his performance, where the singer lifted her off the ground. The brief interaction sparked heavy backlash from some netizens who criticized the mother of three, arguing that such actions are inappropriate for a married woman.
In response to the criticism, Real Warri Pikin released a video accepting full responsibility and apologizing to her fans and her husband, Ikechukwu, noting that she simply got carried away by the excitement of the event. Despite her public apology, some social media users continued to drag her.
Reacting to the ongoing backlash via his social media handle, Akpororo stated that Real Warri Pikin did not owe the public an apology. He argued that critics are hypocritical, pointing out that people routinely overlook married Nollywood actresses kissing and engaging in intimate scenes in movies, yet choose to call out Real Warri Pikin for a stage performance. He maintained that the only person she should ever consider apologizing to is her husband
