Throwback video of police officer who threatened to shoot anyone who records him on duty, slamming Nigerians for protesting the extrajudicial k!lling of Delta man

A throwback video involving Newton Isokpehi has resurfaced online, sparking renewed outrage days after the police officer was arrested over a separate viral video in which he allegedly threatened violence against civilians recording him while on duty.

The resurfaced footage reportedly shows the Assistant Superintendent of Police insulting Nigerians who protested the controversial killing of 28-year-old Oghenemine Ogidi in Delta State.

According to reports, Ogidi was allegedly shot dead on April 26 after a police operation led by ASP Nuhu Usman intercepted him at a motor park while he was attempting to collect a parcel reportedly sent by a friend.

Police operatives allegedly discovered a pistol inside the package, leading to the confrontation.

Witnesses and reports claimed that Ogidi repeatedly denied knowledge of the firearm and even offered to lead officers to the individual who allegedly sent the parcel.

Despite his explanations, he was reportedly shot and killed publicly during the incident, triggering widespread anger and condemnation across social media and within the community.

In the now-recurring video, ASP Isokpehi was seen aggressively criticizing Nigerians protesting the killing and reportedly directed harsh remarks toward the Inspector-General of Police for allegedly ordering disciplinary action against officers linked to the incident.

The video has fueled further criticism of police conduct and professionalism within the country.

The controversy comes shortly after the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the arrest of ASP Isokpehi following another viral clip where he allegedly threatened to shoot anyone attempting to record him during operations.

Authorities had earlier announced that internal disciplinary procedures had commenced against the officer in line with police regulations and ethical standards.

The Anambra State Police Command also disclosed that the officer was subjected to a drug test as part of ongoing investigations into his conduct and behavior.

The latest resurfaced footage has intensified calls for accountability and police reform, with many Nigerians demanding stricter disciplinary measures against officers accused of abuse, intimidation, and extrajudicial actions.
