‘There Will Be Mass Killings, Bloodshed’ – Terrorist Threatens Adamawa Communities

A suspected militant claiming to speak for the Chobo ethnic group has threatened night-time attacks on Bachama-speaking communities in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the suspected militia leader claimed Chobo fighters had adopted what he called a “night mode operation.”

He allegedly said the fighters would move from village to village under the cover of darkness.

The man reportedly declared, “There will be mass killings, there will be mass bloodshed, there will be wailing across Bachama land.”

He also identified himself as a pastor and likened the Chobo ethnic group to Israel, saying the group would overcome its opponents despite its size.

The threat comes amid lingering tensions between Bachama and Chobo communities in Lamurde, where a land and communal crisis has led to deaths, displacement and destruction of property over the past year.

Despite several peace agreements brokered by authorities, hostilities have repeatedly resurfaced in the area.

In the video, the suspected militia leader also accused Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, of sponsoring Bachama fighters and fuelling the crisis.

The allegations were made without evidence and had not been independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
