A surprising reaction a first-class graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) received after applying for a job at a Lagos clinic has sparked widespread reactions online.

The story came to public attention after a user, @_raesparkles, posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp exchange allegedly involving her friend’s job application experience.

According to the post, the graduate was seeking employment in Lagos and had applied for a role at a medical clinic.

“My friend wanted to come work in Lagos so she applied to a clinic and she got this response,” the caption read.

In the screenshot shared online, the clinic reportedly replied in a courteous manner but turned down the application.

The message read:

“Hey Linda. First class hons? There is something better for you. Please don’t lower your standard. All the best.”

The unusual tone of the response quickly drew attention across social media, with many users debating its meaning and intent.

Additional details from the post identified the applicant as Linda Omotayo Aisida, a Physiology graduate of FUTA who reportedly bagged a first-class degree.

She was said to have graduated on November 12, 2024.
