TG Omori laments failed transplant as brother lives with single kidney

Nigerian cinematographer and filmmaker TG Omori has opened up regarding his kidney transplant and health journey, revealing that his brother donated a kidney to him before doctors discovered it was not a match.

Omori, while speaking during an interview, detailed the struggles of searching for a suitable donor. He added that his brother eventually stepped forward to donate his kidney.

His body was, however, not compatible with the donated kidney.

“My brother gave me his kidney after it took us nine months of struggle to find a donor. After the transplant was successful, the doctor told me it wasn’t a match and my body wasn’t accepting it,” he said.

Omori added that he spent another six months waiting before his family could find a suitable donor for a second transplant. He also revealed that the ordeal left his brother living with only one kidney.

“After waiting for another six months, we had to find another donor that could match before it turned out successful. Now, my brother has to live with only one kidney,” he added.
