The latest development follows the expiration of a June 30, 2026, ultimatum issued by anti-immigrant groups demanding that undocumented foreign nationals leave the country.

“Whether you’re documented, whether you’re undocumented, whether you’re elderly, whether you’re a child, you will be taken to authorities,” the reporter said while filming the operation.

The incident has further heightened concerns over the safety of African migrants living in South Africa, where periodic outbreaks of anti-immigrant violence have occurred over the years.
