Temu taps Kwikpik to boost last-mile delivery in Nigeria
In a bid to strengthen last-mile fulfillment operations across West Africa, global e-commerce marketplace Temu has expanded its local courier network in Nigeria, approving indigenous logistics and payment platform Kwikpik as an operational partner.
The development aims to address persistent supply chain bottlenecks and improve parcel delivery efficiency for thousands of Nigerian consumers and small businesses relying on cross-border trade.
Since entering the Nigerian market, direct-to-consumer e-commerce adoption has grown rapidly, driven by rising demand for affordable goods. However, persistent macroeconomic challenges—including fragmented addressing systems, urban traffic congestion, and delivery delays—continue to test the capacity of international platforms operating in the region.
Nigeria’s e-commerce sector, which generated an estimated $8.53 billion in 2024, is projected to reach $14.92 billion by 2029, expanding at an annual rate of 11.82%. The rapid scale highlights an urgent need for robust, tech-enabled local distribution networks capable of handling high-volume order fulfillment.
Industry stakeholders note that integrations between international e-commerce platforms and licensed local operators are becoming vital to sustaining growth and improving consumer trust in digital commerce.
Speaking on the operational milestone, Paul Ifegwu, Chief Operations Officer at Kwikpik, highlighted the growing maturity of Nigeria’s logistics infrastructure to support global supply chains.
“The integration reflects the steady evolution of local operational capacity,” Paul stated. “Ensuring predictable, scalable last-mile delivery is critical to supporting the broader digital economy and meeting the standards expected by modern consumers.”
As global platforms continue to deepen their footprint in Africa’s largest market, strategic reliance on domestic courier networks, route-optimization tech, and licensed regional hubs is expected to define the future of retail fulfillment across the country.
