Start Begging On Streets Instead Of Using Relationship To Raise Money – Emeka Ike Tackles Ladies, Says Love Is Not A Scam

Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has shared his thoughts on the growing number of failed relationships and marriages, insisting that love itself should not be blamed for the breakdown of many unions.

Speaking during an interview with BBC News Pidgin, the actor argued that the real problem lies in the intentions with which many people enter relationships, particularly when financial gain becomes the primary motivation.

According to Emeka Ike, a relationship loses its true essence when one partner views the other merely as a source of money or material benefits instead of building a genuine emotional connection founded on trust, commitment and mutual respect.

He maintained that love and marriage are sacred institutions and should not be dismissed as fraudulent simply because some people abuse them for personal gain. In his view, many of the challenges experienced in modern relationships stem from hidden motives rather than from the concept of marriage itself.

The actor also criticized what he described as the increasing trend of some women choosing romantic partners based mainly on what they expect to receive financially. He said using romance as a means of securing financial support undermines the true purpose of relationships, which should be built on sincerity, understanding and shared values.

Emeka Ike further advised women not to be influenced by individuals who publicly project negative views about marriage after experiencing failed relationships. He encouraged couples to approach relationship challenges with patience and a willingness to understand and resolve their differences instead of giving up at the first sign of difficulty.

According to him, successful relationships require sacrifice, communication and perseverance, rather than a constant focus on financial benefits.

In his words:

“Love and marriage is not scam. But there are a few people that are hungry, that are using relationship as a meal ticket. That’s where it becomes a scam.

“So plenty of girls are going into relationships because of what they want to get, wetin dey wan collect from the man. They should just go and be begging for money on the streets, not using relationship. Relationship is supposed to be sacred.

“Good girls should not listen to those women whose marriages have scattered and they come online to give wrong marriage advice. People endure in relationship. People try to find out the problem of their spouse in relationship. People try to solve it. Don’t just be with them for financial gains.”
