United States President Donald Trump has claimed that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will eventually resign from office, citing what he described as failures in tackling immigration and energy challenges during his tenure.

Trump made the remarks in a post on his Truth Social platform, where he criticized Starmer’s handling of two issues he considers critical to the United Kingdom’s future.

“Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,” Trump wrote. “He failed badly on two very important subjects – immigration and energy (open North Sea oil!). I wish him well!”

The comments mark the latest in a series of criticisms by the US President directed at the British leader. Trump has previously accused Starmer of pursuing energy policies that could undermine Britain’s economic competitiveness, particularly his government’s commitment to net-zero carbon emissions.

In earlier remarks, Trump criticized the UK’s renewable energy strategy, arguing that greater exploitation of North Sea oil and gas resources would strengthen the country’s energy security and economic prospects.

There is no indication that Trump and Starmer have discussed the Prime Minister’s political future directly, and British government officials have not publicly responded to the President’s latest comments.

Burnham’s supporters argue that his electoral success demonstrates an ability to counter the growing influence of Reform UK and reconnect with voters.

Speculation over Starmer’s future has continued to swirl after senior government figures declined to categorically dismiss reports that the Prime Minister could consider stepping down. Some Labour lawmakers have openly urged him to outline a timetable for his departure, while reports indicate that senior party figures have privately encouraged a leadership transition.
