‘South Park’ series mocks Donald Trump after winning Emmy

“South Park” has won another Emmy Award and used the victory to make a joke about US President Donald Trump, who was heavily satirised in the award-winning episode.

The Comedy Central series won Outstanding Animated Program on Sunday for “Sermon On The ’Mount,” an episode that prominently mocked Trump and depicted an animated version of the president in bed with Satan. Following the victory, the show’s official social media account posted an image showing its animated version of Trump holding the Emmy trophy.

“You finally got your Emmy,” the accompanying message read. The joke referenced Trump’s history with the Emmy Awards, particularly his time hosting the reality television series “The Apprentice.”

“The Apprentice” received Emmy nominations in 2004 and 2005 but did not win the award, an outcome Trump has publicly complained about over the years. Sunday’s victory marked “South Park’s” fifth Emmy in the Outstanding Animated Program category.
