“Some Women Fake Pregnancies With Steroids and Buy Babies” – Ex-NAPTIP DG Alleges

Former Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Julie Okah-Donli, has alleged that some women use steroids to fake pregnancies before obtaining babies to deceive their husbands into believing they gave birth.

Speaking during an interview on the Kaa Truths Podcast, a clip of which resurfaced on Tuesday, Okah-Donli claimed that some women are injected with steroids that cause physical changes similar to pregnancy, including swollen faces and enlarged stomachs.

According to her, the women allegedly pretend to experience pregnancy symptoms whenever their husbands are around before arranging for the men to be absent during the supposed delivery. She claimed they later present babies as their biological children.

“They are injected with steroids… Their faces are bloated up, and their tummies are actually very big. They look pregnant, but they are not pregnant,” she alleged.

Okah-Donli further claimed that some women undergo procedures to create scars resembling those from a caesarean section to make the deception appear genuine. She also argued that maternity tests should accompany paternity tests in disputed cases, saying such measures could help investigators uncover alleged baby trafficking.

She added that some women falsely claim to have given birth to twins, triplets or quadruplets because it makes it easier to explain obtaining multiple babies at once.
