Somali Pirates Hijack Oil Tanker Off Yemen Coast in Gulf of Aden Strike
This latest hijacking comes amid a noticeable uptick in pirate activity off the Horn of Africa. Just days earlier, another oil tanker, the Honour 25, was seized by gunmen near the Somali coast with 17 crew members aboard—10 Pakistanis, four Indonesians, and others from India, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. That vessel, carrying around 18,500 barrels of oil, was anchored close to the shore between the fishing towns of Xaafun and Bander Beyla in Puntland.
