AWKA, ANAMBRA — Undeterred by fierce local and cross-border opposition political forces, the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is pressing aggressively ahead with its developmental and administrative blueprint for Anambra State.

In its sixth Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting for Governor Soludo’s second term, held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Light House in Awka, the state government rolled out far-reaching structural mandates aimed at institutionalizing strict public order, environmental sustainability, and fiscal accountability across the state.

1. Traffic Recklessness: Mental Status Exams for Lawbreakers

In a move to end the dangerous lawlessness on Anambra roads, ANSEC resolved to immediately approach the Anambra State House of Assembly for rigorous amendments to the state’s extant traffic laws.

The administration is introducing severe penalties targeting high-risk driving infractions, such as driving against oncoming traffic (“one-way”) and cutting across dual carriageways to bypass designated U-turn points. Convicted offenders will not only face heavy financial fines but will be legally subjected to a mandatory Mental Status Examination (MSE) to verify their psychological fitness to operate a vehicle.

2. War Against Defamation and “Fake” Clerics

Addressing the highly volatile political environment, the Council reaffirmed that while the Soludo administration warmly welcomes constructive public criticism and open governance, it will no longer tolerate systemic blackmail.

The state government strongly condemned coordinated smear campaigns, characterizing the deliberate propagation of fabrications on social media as criminal defamation. Public servants targeted by malicious falsehoods have been formally advised to seek full legal redress in courts of law.

Furthermore, the Council restated its aggressive commitment to cleansing the state’s socio-cultural space by sustaining its ongoing crackdown on fraudulent native doctors, fake pastors, and related criminal entities.

3. Grassroots Mobilization Against Erosion

Following a recently declared state of emergency on the environment, the state government is moving its erosion mitigation efforts down to the grassroots level.

Local communities are being actively mobilized to enforce stringent regulations and prevent practices that compromise the soil and drainage systems. Under the new directive, the state will aggressively prosecute and penalize:
