Singer Pink calls out Macklemore after pro-Palestine comments during concert

Singer Pink has appeared to weigh in on the controversy surrounding Macklemore’s recent performances at Ed Sheeran’s New Jersey concerts by reposting criticism of the rapper on Instagram.

Pink shared an Instagram Story from the advocacy group StopAntisemitism, which criticised Macklemore’s performance and described the situation as “awful.” She did not add any commentary of her own to the repost, leaving her precise position unclear.

The post criticised Macklemore’s performances at Sheeran’s MetLife Stadium shows on September 4 and 5, where he voiced support for Palestinians, criticised Israel and performed his 2024 protest song “Hind’s Hall” while images related to Gaza appeared on stadium screens.

StopAntisemitism called for concertgoers to be refunded and said they were “owed apologies.” Macklemore’s performances have prompted calls for his removal from the remainder of Sheeran’s US tour.

An Israeli-American group has also launched a petition urging Sheeran and tour organisers to drop the rapper from the remaining shows. Macklemore has spoken publicly about the Israel-Palestine conflict for years and has used “Hind’s Hall” as part of his pro-Palestinian advocacy.

Sheeran has not publicly responded to the controversy or the petition. Pink has also not publicly explained why she shared the StopAntisemitism post, meaning the repost itself remains the only indication of her apparent reaction.
