A Nigerian man has sparked massive reactions online after sharing a scary story. He says he received ₦100,000 from a suspected bandit during a TikTok giveaway, but now the same people are demanding he pay back ₦100 million. He is begging Nigerians for help.

The incident is part of a bigger drama that started around June 5-6, 2026. Some people believed to be bandits went live on TikTok. They showed plenty of money and did giveaways. Many desperate Nigerians dropped their bank account numbers in the comments, hoping to collect small amounts like ₦5,000, ₦10,000 or more. Alerts came quickly through apps like OPay and Moniepoint. Reports say the bandits spent tens of millions of naira this way.

In the man’s video that is now going round on X (Twitter), Facebook and Instagram, he looked very worried. He explained: “Bandit sent me ₦100,000 as a giveaway on TikTok, and now they are requesting ₦100 million from me.” He said they contacted him later, possibly through email or message, and asked for the huge amount back. He pleaded, “Nigerians please help me. I don dey serious trouble.”

Reactions on Social Media

The story has caused plenty of talk, laughter, shock and anger across Nigeria.Many people are laughing and calling it “trouble money.” One X user wrote: “Serves him right! Awon a lai loju ti.” (People without sense).

Others are warning about money laundering. They say anyone who collected the money fit face EFCC trouble because the cash na ransom from kidnapped people.

Some feel pity: “Poverty and foolishness na the problem of Nigeria.” They blame hard times, high inflation and joblessness.

Plenty are angry with the youths who joined the giveaway. “Bandits dey kill and kidnap, una still dey collect their money? This na blood money!” one Instagram user said.

A trending topic on X captured screenshots of people begging the bandits, even asking if they are single or can visit their city. This made many shout “Shame!”.
