From Abel Zwanke, Lafia

Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed confidence in Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s political future as Nasarawa State prepares for the 2027 governorship transition. Shettima made the remarks on Wednesday during the opening of the two-day Nasarawa Investment Summit 2026 in Lafia, themed “Bold Transitions, Building a Legacy for a Sustainable Future.

“Speaking before investors, traditional rulers, political leaders, and other stakeholders, the Vice President said the state’s economic reforms and investment policies should remain stable beyond Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration. Referring to Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Shettima said he believes the senator is positioned to continue the state’s development efforts.

“I want to assure the investing public that by the grace of God, seated in our midst here is the next governor of Nasarawa,” the Vice President said, adding that Wadada has experience in the banking sector and public service.

Shettima also told the senator that he “has his job cut out” for him, while wishing him success. The summit also featured the launch of the “Lafia Declaration,” a commitment by political parties, institutions, and development partners to sustain the state’s reform agenda beyond the next election cycle. Wadada is widely viewed in political circles as a potential contender in the 2027 governorship race, although no official party nomination process has begun.
