Organisers Urge Public to Stay Away

The organisers, Ghana Party in the Park, confirmed the disruption in a statement and asked ticket holders and members of the public not to travel to the festival grounds until further notice.

“Due to a major incident at the festival site, the event has been temporarily paused.

“Please do not travel to or come to the festival site until further notice,” the statement said.

The organisers said emergency services and the relevant authorities were handling the situation.

“We kindly ask everyone to stay away from the area to allow them to carry out their work safely.

“We will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation,” they added.

Uncertainty Over Refunds and Rescheduling

The organisers have not announced whether ShattaFest will be rescheduled or if ticket holders will receive refunds.

The event was expected to feature Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale as one of the headline performers and had attracted fans from across the UK and other countries.

Police Officer Speaks on Stampede

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any arrests were made or officially released details on the number of people injured during the incident.

However, a UK police officer captured in a video explaining the closure said the decision followed a stampede that left several people injured.

“There’s been a massive accident, a stampede which led to quite a lot of people getting hurt, and for that reason and for public safety it has to be shut down,” the officer said.

Police are expected to provide further updates as investigations into the incident continue.
