Sanwo-Olu unveils Integrated Energy hub to boost clean mobility in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday commissioned one of Nigeria’s first fully integrated energy hubs in Oshodi, describing the facility as a major milestone in the country’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy.

Located in one of Lagos’ busiest transportation and commercial corridors, the hub combines multiple energy solutions in a single location, offering Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and a dedicated vehicle conversion workshop.

Sanwo-Olu said the project goes beyond a conventional filling station, providing cleaner and more affordable energy options for commuters, transport operators and businesses while helping to reduce transportation costs across the state.

“The strategic location of this hub will improve access to cleaner and affordable energy for commuters, transport operators and businesses, while easing the burden of transportation costs on residents,” the governor said.

He noted that the project reflects the success of collaboration between the Federal Government, Lagos State Government, regulatory agencies and private-sector investors in advancing Nigeria’s energy transition agenda.

Sanwo-Olu commended NIPCO and its management for investing in the project, saying Lagos remains committed to implementing practical energy solutions that promote sustainable mobility, economic growth, business development and improved quality of life for residents.

Speaking at the commissioning, Managing Director of IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC), Temitayo Gbajumo, described the integrated energy hub as a landmark achievement in Lagos State’s drive towards cleaner energy and modern transportation.

Gbajumo praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his leadership and unwavering support, which he said had enabled the corporation to expand its energy infrastructure across the state.

He announced the launch of the Lagos Energy Access and Cleaner Mobility Programme (LEAP 2031), an initiative designed to transform IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation into a fully integrated energy company serving Lagos.

According to him, the corporation has significantly expanded its energy network, now operating 18 retail fuel stations, eight LPG plants, four LPG hubs, five CNG refuelling stations—with 12 additional stations under development—four CNG vehicle conversion centres that have converted more than 300 vehicles, as well as electric vehicle charging points.

Gbajumo said the investments are improving access to cleaner energy, creating employment opportunities, attracting private investment and strengthening Lagos’ position as Nigeria’s commercial and economic hub.
