Nick Reiner, the son of filmmaker Rob Reiner, was reportedly disciplined inside a Los Angeles jail after an alleged outburst while awaiting trial on charges related to the deaths of his parents.
Sources claim the 32-year-old became frustrated while waiting to be escorted back to his cell, resulting in temporary sanctions.
The incident has renewed attention on Nick Reiner’s time in custody and the high-profile murder case that could carry a life sentence without parole.
Nick is said to have faced disciplinary action while being held at Los Angeles County’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility after an alleged outburst in a medical observation unit earlier this year.
The incident reportedly occurred on 27 April at around 8:15 a.m. while the 32-year-old was waiting to be escorted back to his cell after showering. According to a source familiar with the matter, Nick became increasingly agitated when deputies did not immediately return to collect him.
The delay was reportedly caused by an emergency elsewhere in the unit, where staff was responding to another inmate believed to have suffered an overdose. Sources claim Nick grew frustrated while waiting and began shouting at correctional officers.
“He was recalcitrant, extremely hostile, creating a verbal disturbance, refusing to follow rules and not listening to any commands,” the source told People Magazine. “He was yelling, screaming, being disrespectful and shouting many profanities.”
Additional deputies were reportedly called to the area after the situation escalated verbally. However, sources said the confrontation never became physical.

The episode offers a rare insight into Nick’s life behind bars as he awaits trial in connection with the deaths of his parents. He has been held in a specialized medical observation unit since his arrest in December 2025 and is housed separately from the general inmate population.
According to previous reports, Nick spends much of his time in isolation, receives regular welfare checks, and remains under continuous surveillance. While he was initially placed on suicide watch following his arrest, that status was reportedly lifted in January.
Sources familiar with his situation told People that the April incident has been unusual compared with the rest of his incarceration, during which he has generally complied with jail routines. However, concerns have reportedly been raised about his mental health, with one source claiming he has struggled in recent months while in custody.

In June, he filed a petition seeking access to a $1.5 million trust established by his late parents.
The filing argued that he should have begun receiving distributions from the fund two years earlier and claimed that his inability to access the money had hampered his ability to fund his defense.
He is currently represented by public defender Kimberly Greene as he awaits further proceedings in the case.
