Report: Former Shin Bet chief evacuated from UAE following security warning

Former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and his wife were reportedly evacuated from the United Arab Emirates and returned to Israel after Israeli security agencies received warnings of a potential threat against him, according to Israeli media reports.

Israel’s Channel 13 reported on Monday that the evacuation was carried out urgently after security services received intelligence indicating a possible Iranian threat targeting Bar during a visit to the UAE.

According to the broadcaster, the warning related to concerns that the former intelligence chief could be targeted while attending a private security gathering in the country.

The report cited unnamed sources who said Bar and his wife were subsequently removed from the UAE and returned to Israel under heightened security measures.

According to the report, the event was allegedly hosted by UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

However, the channel also cited an Israeli source with ties to the UAE who strongly denied reports that Abdullah bin Zayed had hosted such a conference or met with Bar, describing those claims as unfounded.

Neither Bar nor UAE authorities publicly commented on the reports.

According to Channel 13, details of the incident remained undisclosed for an extended period before becoming public.

The Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that the decision was made to immediately evacuate Bar and his wife following what it described as an unusual security alert during their stay in the UAE.

The newspaper said the operation was conducted discreetly and had not been publicly disclosed at the time.
