Speaking in a video while addressing the public, Aregbesola said he lived with a friend throughout his time in office, insisting that he did not acquire any house while serving as governor.

“I’m the first governor in the whole of Nigeria that served for eight years without owning a house. I squatted with my friend for those eight years on my father’s land.

“These politicians, that politicians. Whosoever says I am lying should come and show me the houses I owned during my tenure,” he said.

The former governor maintained that anyone doubting his claim should provide evidence of any property he acquired while he was in office.

Aregbesola said his record in office speaks for itself, insisting that critics should focus on verifiable facts rather than assumptions about politicians enriching themselves while in power.

His remarks have since generated reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing mixed opinions over his statement, while others debated the lifestyle of public office holders during and after their time in government.
