“Promoting A Movie Is Investing In Yourself”- Dayo Amusa Advises Fellow Actors

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has urged her colleagues in the film industry to take movie promotion more seriously, stressing that an actor’s responsibility does not end once filming is completed.

According to the actress, delivering a great performance is only one part of the process. She noted that the real impact of a film depends on how well it is promoted, as audiences need to know about the project before they can watch it.

Amusa emphasized that actors whose names appear on a movie poster should also play an active role in promoting the production. She explained that participating in promotional campaigns is not merely about supporting the producer but also about investing in their own careers and public image.

Highlighting the benefits of active promotion, the actress said it helps strengthen an actor’s personal brand, contributes to a film’s commercial success, protects the effort invested in making the project, and supports the overall growth of the Nigerian film industry.

My dear colleagues,

I write to us today on a matter critical to our growth. Many of us still believe our work ends on set. It does not. In today’s Nollywood, acting is only half the job. The other half is making sure the world watches what we have created.

When your face is on the poster, your voice must be on the promotion. You are not doing the producer a favour. You are investing in yourself.

Why you must promote every film you are in:
