Prison warden learns fate for fling with convicted murderer who listed her as his ‘partner’
A female prison warden has been locked up herself for having sex with a convicted murderer — who listed her as his “partner” in his contacts on a smuggled phone.
Rebecca Green, 29, started her fling with John Otugade in October 2022 at the maximum-security HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire, England, which houses some of the UK’s most violent criminals, Cambridge Constabulary said Tuesday.
The warden initially denied the illicit fling with Otugade, who was sentenced in 2012 to serve at least 25 years for murdering a London nightclub bouncer.
However, investigators then seized her phone and found messages confirming the relationship.
They then found Otugade had been smuggled a phone – on which Green was listed as his “partner” under an “approved contacts list,” police said.
Green, from Lincolnshire, pleaded guilty to wilful misconduct in public office and was sentenced to 16 months in prison last Wednesday.
“This was a serious breach of Green’s responsibilities, and she failed to consider the potential impact on the security and safety of the staff and prisoners and how her actions undermined the work of the prison,” Tom Adams, the detective constable who investigated the case, said.

“This sentence shows how seriously the police and courts take such breaches.”
