Presidential Candidates Running Against Peter Obi, Not Tinubu – Sam Amadi

Director of the Abuja School of Social Thought and Politics, Sam Amadi, has stated that the 2027 election will be the most farcical in Nigeria’s history.

Speaking via a post on 𝕏, he stated that despite the absurdity of the election, some self-proclaimed intellectuals and technocrats are still immersed in the activity.

He asserted that the candidates are running against the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi and not President Bola Tinubu.

Amadi wrote: “Everyone is running against @PeterObi for the presidency, not against the incumbent president @officialABAT.

“This is the most farcical election in Nigeria’s history. And some self-proclaimed intellectuals and technocrats are fully immersed in the illogic.”

Meanwhile, Amadi has said attacks against the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, have failed to weaken his popularity because there are no credible allegations of corruption or scandal against him.

Naija News understands that Amadi made the remarks in a post on 𝕏 on Saturday while reacting to a debate sparked by comments from actor-turned-politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, about Obi and his supporters.

An X user, @RealQueenBee, had referenced recent remarks by Okonkwo, where he allegedly threatened to release information that could damage Obi’s political career if supporters of the former Anambra State governor continued to attack him online.

Reacting to the post, Amadi said Obi’s political appeal remained strong because his critics had not presented factual evidence capable of damaging his reputation.

“Attacks against @PeterObi dont stick much because he has little or nothing that is scandalous or corrupt. All the other presidential candidates today cannot boast of that record,” Amadi wrote.

His political popularity is not damaged because his traducers are merely expressing elitist derision and not bombing him with any factual revelation.

“He is still the best available on presidential slate today.”

Amadi argued that most criticism directed at Obi amounted to elitist attacks rather than evidence-based revelations of wrongdoing.

He said Obi’s record in public service had helped shield him from political attacks, adding that other presidential contenders could not claim a similar level of freedom from allegations of corruption.

According to him, Obi remains the strongest option among the current crop of presidential hopefuls, despite sustained criticism from political opponents.
