Social commentator Isaac Fayose has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his handling of recent insecurity concerns in Oyo State, accusing the federal government of failing to respond adequately to reports of kidnapped schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomosho.
In a strongly worded video statement circulating online, Fayose alleged that several students and teachers were abducted in Ogbomosho, while claiming that one of the teachers was later killed.
He expressed disappointment that the president had not publicly addressed the incident through a nationwide broadcast or paid a visit to the affected area despite being in Lagos.
According to Fayose, the president’s focus on political activities while citizens battle insecurity has angered many Nigerians.
He questioned why government officials had allegedly not visited the victims or sent delegates to sympathise with affected families.
“President Tinubu is in Lagos, not too far from Oyo State, but he did not visit the victims or address Nigerians about the tragedy,” Fayose said during the emotional outburst.
The businessman also criticised ongoing political campaigns and election-related activities, arguing that leaders should prioritise tackling insecurity and protecting citizens.
He further claimed that the creation of state police could help address security challenges, accusing the federal government of delaying action on the matter for political reasons.
Fayose’s remarks have since sparked reactions on social media, with some Nigerians agreeing with his concerns over insecurity, while others condemned the harsh language he used against supporters of the current administration.
