Police nab suspects with 1,123 rounds of live ammunition in Zamfara

Police operatives in Zamfara State have intercepted three suspects with 1,123 rounds of live ammunition. The spokesperson for Nigeria Police Force, CSP Ani Iniedu revealed this while giving update of operational successes of the police across the country on Saturday, 12 September on his social media handles on Monday.

According to him, the three suspects were arrested when police operatives intercepted their vehicle along a checkpoint in Maru LGA of Zamfara State. He added that a total of 1,123 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition concealed in the vehicle were successfully recovered by the police operatives.

In Imo State, Iniedu said Police operatives successfully arrested three suspects with 13 stolen motorcycles, an unregistered Toyota Sienna bus, motorcycle spare parts and other exhibits at a suspected hideout of criminals.

He added that preliminary investigation revealed that some of the recovered motorcycles had been stolen at gunpoint.

Also, police operatives in Katsina on Saturday stopped theft of 15 cows and 35 sheep after a gun duel with armed bandits in a gun duel who were forced to flee into the bush with gunshot injuries. One suspect was arrested in the operation.

Also, in Katsina, three suspected bandits were arrested on Saturday in connection with the abduction of an elderly victim.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects conspired to abduct the victim and collected ₦3,000,000 ransom before releasing him after 16 days in captivity,” Iniedu said.

In Oyo State, a combined team of Police operatives and other security personnel successfully rescued a kidnapped victim on Saturday. This was after they combed bushes around the scene of the crime and forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim and flee.

Police operatives in Gombe arrested one suspect following a robbery attack on a residence. The operatives recovered one stolen motorcycle was successfully recovered, alongside two locally made explosive devices and other exhibits abandoned by the fleeing suspects.

In Delta State, a suspect was arrested with one pump-action gun and 18 live cartridges on Saturday. Tn Federal capital Territory, a man was traced and arrested after he allegedly stabbed a male victim to death and initially fled the scene.

In Gombe, police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes arrested a suspect in possession of stolen armoured cables with a saw and pliers used in the vandalisation also successfully recovered.

In response to distress call, police operatives arrested a suspect at the National Stadium while attempting to steal a Toyota Sienna vehicle.

Also, a suspect was arrested in connection with an alleged unnatural offence involving a five-year-old child in Kano. The victim was successfully treated at a General Hospital and discharged.

Iniedu said the various state commands are investigating the cases.
