“Please Don’t Attend!” — Kantanka Family Disowns Adwoa Safo’s July 30 Burial, Warns Public To Stay Away

The family of the late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka has issued a public warning urging politicians and the general public not to attend the funeral scheduled for July 30, 2026, at Gomoa Mpota, insisting they have no knowledge of or involvement in the event.

“The family is pleading with everyone not to attend the funeral because we do not know anything about it,” a family spokesperson told journalists, distancing the recognised custodians of the late inventor’s affairs from the burial arrangements organised by his daughter, former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.

The warning is the latest flashpoint in a bitter, months-long rift within the Kantanka family. Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission and reportedly named successor in his father’s will, had already declared the July 30 date “null and void” at a press conference.

The family has also accused Adwoa Safo of holding onto their father’s remains and demanding GH¢3.7 million before allowing the burial to proceed claims she has not directly addressed.

Despite the pushback, Adwoa Safo has remained defiant, insisting the burial will go ahead as planned on July 30 at Gomoa Mpota, followed by a service at Independence Square on July 31 and a thanksgiving ceremony in Kumasi on August 8.
