Philip Agbese Hails Armed Forces After Rescue Of 360 Abductees In Borno

The Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Philip Agbese, has praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for what he described as remarkable achievements despite financial and operational challenges, following the rescue of 360 abductees from the Mandara Mountains in southern Borno State.

Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, said the operation carried out by troops of Operation Hadin Kai demonstrated the military’s determination, resilience and professionalism in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

In a statement issued earlier today, June 9, he said the successful mission from one of the country’s most notorious insurgent hideouts reflected the commitment of security forces to restoring peace across affected communities.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria have continued to demonstrate exceptional courage and professionalism under very difficult circumstances. Despite financial limitations and operational challenges, our troops have remained focused on protecting the nation and defending innocent citizens,” Agbese said.

“The recent rescue of 360 abductees from the Mandara Mountains is one of the most significant operations recorded in recent times. It speaks volumes about the dedication of our military personnel and the effectiveness of the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.”

The lawmaker also commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, for what he described as strategic leadership that has strengthened military operations across various theatres.

He said the continued successes against insurgents, bandits and other criminal groups were being driven by improved intelligence gathering, stronger inter-agency collaboration and the dedication of troops on the front line.

Agbese further applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining support for the military and providing the political backing needed to strengthen national security efforts. He described General Oluyede as a disciplined and result-oriented leader whose direction has improved operational effectiveness across the Armed Forces.

“General Oluyede has shown remarkable leadership at a critical period in our nation’s security journey. The results being recorded across various theatres of operation are a testament to his commitment, professionalism and dedication to national service,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Armed Forces through cooperation, information sharing and encouragement, stressing that security remains a collective responsibility.

Agbese expressed confidence that with improved funding and sustained collaboration among security agencies, the military would record even greater successes in ongoing operations, adding that the rescue of the abductees should offer hope to communities affected by insecurity.
