Panic As Terrorists Attack Kwara Communities, Abduct Residents
Suspected terrorists on Thursday night launched coordinated attacks on several communities in Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of Kwara State, abducting scores of residents and killing one person.
The affected communities included Gaa-Oke Abba and Gaa-Alla in Isin Local Government Area, as well as Famole community in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Sources said the attackers invaded the communities simultaneously at about 10pm, forcing many residents to flee for safety.
A source familiar with the attacks said at least two persons were abducted from Gaa-Alla community.
“In Gaa-Alla, two people were taken away by the terrorists,” the source told SaharaReporters.
The source added that the number of persons kidnapped from Gaa-Oke Abba had yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
“The number of people kidnapped in Gaa-Oke Abba is still unknown because efforts are ongoing to determine the full extent of the attack,” the source added.
Another source said the attack on Famole community in Ifelodun Local Government Area turned deadly after residents reportedly engaged the attackers in an exchange of gunfire.
“The bandits’ attack on the Famole community in the night resulted in one fatality after an exchange of gunfire,” the source said.
Famole is located along the Share-Okeode Road near the Oyi River in Oke-Ode Ward II of Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The latest attacks have heightened fear among residents of the affected areas and neighbouring communities.
Naija News reports that parts of Kwara had witnessed increasing cases of kidnappings and violent attacks in recent months, prompting renewed calls for stronger security presence in vulnerable rural settlements.
