Painful Loss As Benue Medical Graduate Passes Away Days To Induction

Shock and sadness have been reported within the medical community following the sudden death of Dr. Tyoor Cedric Kondom, a recent graduate of Benue State University, who reportedly died just days before his official induction into the medical profession.

The Benue Medical and Dental Students’ Association (BEMSA-National) confirmed the incident in a condolence message, describing him as a committed and diligent young doctor whose promising future was cut short at a critical stage of his career.

“With deep sorrow and a heavy heart, we join family, friends, and colleagues in mourning the passing of our dear brother and colleague, Dr. Kondom Cedric, who passed away on Thursday, 18th June 2026,” the association said in its tribute.

According to the statement, Cedric had successfully completed all academic and professional requirements of medical school and was only a few days away from being formally inducted as a medical doctor before his untimely death.

BEMSA-National further noted that he was an outstanding student whose years in medical school were defined by hard work, perseverance, and a strong commitment to the medical profession.

Colleagues and friends also expressed their grief on social media, describing the news as heartbreaking, especially given how close he was to achieving a major milestone in his career. One mourner stated that after about ten years of medical training at Benue State University and his service at General Hospital Gboko, he was just ten days away from induction when the tragic news broke.

The association emphasized that his passing represents a significant loss not only to BEMSA-National but also to the wider medical community, noting that he positively impacted those around him through his dedication and character.

While some colleagues have speculated that he may have died from bone marrow failure, the exact cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed.
