Ogogo’s final message to daughter weeks before death revealed

Veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, had shared an emotional exchange with his daughter, Kira Taiwo, weeks before his death, urging her to remain strong and assuring her that he would be fine.

Kira shared the conversation on her Instagram Story on Monday, a day after the actor died at the age of 66.

The message exchange, dated July 26, showed Ogogo comforting his daughter after she became emotional over his health condition.

In the conversation, the actor told Kira that seeing her and her sisters smile gave him strength, while pleading with her not to cry.

“How are you? I heard you are crying. Seeing you and your sisters smile is making me strong. If you cry, it will make me sad, and I will start to think,” Ogogo wrote.

The actor, who was a Muslim, encouraged his daughter to remain hopeful and trust in Allah.

“Be strong. I am strong. Nothing is going to happen to me, insha Allah. If you do, then don’t cry, my princess,” he added.

Responding to her father, Kira assured him of her faith and expressed her love for him.

“Daddy, I’m not crying oo… don’t mind Haleemah. I trust in Allah, sir. I love you very much,” she wrote.

Ogogo replied, “Love u too, my princess.”

The emotional exchange came weeks before the family publicly revealed that the actor was battling stage-four cancer.

His daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, had earlier appealed for medical assistance after his condition worsened, revealing that doctors could no longer continue chemotherapy due to his health status.

Ogogo died at about 3 p.m. on Sunday, according to a burial announcement by veteran actor Jide Kosoko.

The actor will be buried in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, according to Islamic rites.

Ogogo was one of the most respected figures in the Yoruba film industry, with decades of contributions as an actor, filmmaker and director.
