Nigerian lady suggests women should stop having male children due to high rate of gender-based violence

A Nigerian lady, Chidimma Dove Leonard, has been facing backlash on Facebook after she suggested that women should stop having male children due to the high rate of gender-based violence against women and girls. 

“This is an uncomfortable topic, I know. But would you support that women stop having male children because of the numerous violence and r@pe cases against women?” she wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, July 20, 2026.
