Newborn Baby Rescued After Being Found Abandoned on a Road

A newborn baby has been rescued after being found abandoned along a farm road in Omupo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to reports, the infant was discovered by passersby with the placenta still attached to his abdomen. The residents immediately alerted others in the community before rushing the baby to Omupo Cottage Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Confirming the incident on Monday, July 13, 2026, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Ismail Bakare, said the baby was brought to the facility alive and has since been placed under medical observation.

Speaking on the child’s condition, he said:

“The baby was brought to the hospital after being found abandoned along a farm path. He is stable and responding well to treatment.

“He will need sustained medical care, proper nutrition and adequate support in the coming weeks to aid his recovery and development.”
