New Book Claims Camilla Has A ‘Magical Effect’ On King Charles

Queen Camilla‘s strong influence over King Charles has been brought to the fore, as a royal biographer claims in a new book that only she has a “magical effect” on him.

The King reportedly considers Camilla’s role in his life “non-negotiable,” which is part of the reason he made a “painstaking” effort to repair their public image following the scandals surrounding their previous marriages.

During his recent meeting with his youngest son, Prince Harry, the Queen Consort was also said to have dropped everything to be by his side and offer “moral support,” with sources claiming she remains a key figure in any potential reconciliation between father and son.

The pressures of the monarchy can leave King Charles exhausted and under intense scrutiny. However, royal author Catherine Mayer claims there is one person who can instantly lift his spirits: Queen Camilla.

In her new book, “Divide & Rule,” Mayer paints a vivid picture of Camilla’s influence over the monarch, describing her presence as having an almost immediate, “transformative” effect on his mood.

She writes, “With Camilla, you only need to see her and Charles together to understand that she has this … magical effect on him. It’s transformative.”

Mayer added that Camilla’s influence is most evident when Charles is under pressure.

“You would see him tired, very obviously out of sorts. And then she would come into a room, and he would light up. She just lifts him,” she writes.

Charles Reportedly Sees Queen Camilla As A ‘Non-Negotiable’

Charles and Camilla’s love story began more than five decades ago after they first met in 1970. They dated briefly before the then-Prince Charles left to serve in the Royal Navy.

Their relationship later attracted intense public attention after reports emerged that they were having an affair during Charles’ marriage to Princess Diana. Despite the controversy, they married in a private civil ceremony in 2005 and have continued to strengthen their relationship.

According to Mayer, Charles eventually came to view Camilla as the one person who could truly sustain him emotionally and now regards her role in his life as “non-negotiable.”

That, she says, explains why he invested “painstaking” effort into rebuilding their public image after the damage caused by the affair allegations.

“I think the non-negotiability was the point after the divorce and, of course, after Diana’s death,” Mayer writes. “I think he felt the need for that kind of support, and Camilla has clearly always been prepared to do that.”

Wedding Day Moment Left Camilla ‘A Little Broken’

Mayer also recounts a moment from Charles and Camilla’s wedding day that reportedly left the future queen feeling emotionally drained.

“When dawn finally broke on her happiest day, Camilla reportedly felt a little broken too, reluctant to emerge from under her duvet,” Mayer writes.

“When she did, it was to a service that joined her and Charles in the prayer of preparation, an admission of ‘manifold sins and wickedness’ written by Thomas Cranmer for Henry VIII,” she continues.

Publicly acknowledging and confessing past failings during the service was reportedly no easy experience, but Camilla persevered. “Still, this daughter and ex-wife of military men has never allowed adversity to rain on her parade,” Mayer adds.

Camilla ‘Dropped Everything’ For Prince Harry Meeting

Camilla’s importance to Charles reportedly extends to his relationship with Prince Harry as efforts toward reconciliation continue.

The Duke of Sussex traveled to the UK in early July for charitable engagements and an Invictus Games event. During the visit, he reportedly held a private meeting with Charles and Camilla at Highgrove House.

According to Vanity Fair, Camilla “dropped everything” to attend after Charles informed her about the meeting because he wanted her by his side.

An insider also claimed the hour-long meeting was “completely cloak-and-dagger” and carefully orchestrated by the king.

According to the insider, Camilla immediately rushed to support Charles because he wanted her present throughout the sensitive family meeting.

“Charles wanted Camilla to be there for moral support and because she has been a pillar of strength for him throughout all the drama with Harry, and she dropped everything,” the source claimed.

The insider added, “She told no one, not even her family. She just got in the car and headed over. They were all on a mission to keep the meeting as watertight as possible.” Buckingham Palace later confirmed the meeting had taken place after Harry and his team had quietly left the estate without being seen. Charles was also said to have stressed the importance of keeping every detail private.
