Pastor Kayode Amusan, also known as Agbala Gabriel, has been accused of sexual misconduct, fraud and paternity, The PUNCH reports.
The pastor, who is based in Ibadan, built a strong online following over the years by mobilising support for sick and vulnerable people. Videos showing him praying for struggling families and appealing for donations frequently circulated on social media, earning him praise from many Nigerians who viewed his ministry as charity-driven.
However, that reputation has recently come under intense debate after a series of accusations surfaced on platforms such as Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.
The controversy centres around claims involving medical fundraising for a sick woman and separate allegations that the cleric fathered twins with a former backup singer in his church.
One of the issues reportedly involves a woman identified as Morenikeji, who was said to be suffering from a spinal condition and whose treatment had earlier attracted public donations.
In a viral video, Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola said she had previously contributed to fundraising efforts for the woman’s surgery.
According to her, the patient’s family later sought assistance from the cleric.
“I initially raised money for the woman’s surgery, which wasn’t enough. But as soon as the family took her to Agbala Gabriel’s care, I withdrew,” she said.
“Later, I got to know that Gabriel abandoned them and failed to provide the support of a good accommodation and surgery he promised.”
The woman’s daughter also alleged in the same video that she eventually removed her mother from the cleric’s custody because of concerns about how the situation was being handled.
While that controversy continued to generate reactions online, another allegation surfaced.
A blogger known as Iyalaje Courtroom alleged during a live broadcast that the cleric had been involved in the mismanagement of donations and inappropriate relationships with women.
According to the blogger, one of the women, identified as Bolu, was a former backup singer in the pastor’s church who later became pregnant and gave birth to twins.
“She was about 23 when the relationship started and she is now 25,” the blogger claimed.
“Agbala Gabriel initially denied the pregnancy, but after pressure, he later accepted responsibility and rented a house for the lady and the twins.”
The claim was also echoed by a charity advocate, Princess Adeyinka, who said she personally intervened when the matter first emerged.
“Agbala Gabriel impregnated Bolu and refused to take full responsibility initially. I went to him myself to beg him to take responsibility when I first heard about it, which he denied initially but later took responsibility,” she alleged.
As the allegations spread across social media, supporters and critics of the cleric have remained sharply divided. While some defend his record of charitable activities, others have called for greater transparency regarding fundraising carried out through the ministry.
Reacting to the allegations, Amusan denied any wrongdoing and described the claims as attempts to tarnish his reputation.
“This is how they try to bring ministers of God down. All ministers who became famous faced this kind of lies. We see men of God like Enoch Adeboye, and other famous pastors being dragged on social media every day. This is just how they do on social media, making false allegations,” he said.
