NDDC briefs Tinubu on progress of key Niger Delta projects

The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku, has updated President Bola Tinubu on the agency’s strides in delivering long-delayed projects across the Niger Delta.

Ogbuku gave the update after a meeting with the President at the State House in Abuja, reaffirming the Commission’s determination to achieve practical results that align with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Details of the meeting were made public in a statement released on Wednesday in Port Harcourt by the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama.

According to Ogbuku, the level of progress recorded by the Commission has been largely driven by sustained support from the Presidency, with President Tinubu urging the agency to focus on completing inherited projects for the benefit of communities in the region.

He outlined some of the projects already completed, including a 650-bed student hostel at the Niger Delta University in Amassoma, Bayelsa State, as well as an electrification project in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.

The NDDC boss also invited the President to officially inaugurate the finished projects, describing them as clear proof of the Federal Government’s dedication to promoting sustainable development in the Niger Delta.

Ogbuku further disclosed that several other major projects are at advanced stages and will soon be ready for commissioning.

These include the Kaa–Ataba Road and Bridge in Rivers State, the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital, and road works in Ikot Ekpene.

“I also briefed Mr President on the progress we have made in conjunction with the Delta State Government and Chevron Nigeria Limited on the 70.75km Omadino-Okerenkoko-Escravos Road and bridges in the Warri North Local Government Area,” he added.
