NDC Disowns Viral List Of Approved Candidates For Election
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged members of the public and party loyalists to disregard a viral list in circulation, claiming to be the official list of candidates for Imo, Abia and Anambra States.
NDC, in a statement on Friday by its National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Enekweizu, clarified that the list is fake and did not originate from the party.
He added that the party has already submitted its list of authentic candidates that will fly the party’s flag in the coming elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Enekweizu stated that the fake list is being peddled by mischief makers and those who do not wish the party well.
The statement read, “The general public, especially members of the NDC in Imo, Abia, Anambra and other affected states, are hereby urged to disregard the lists of candidates widely circulating on social media as the authentic lists of our party’s candidates from the aforementioned States. The said lists are fake and did not emanate from the party headquarters.
“Our party has since submitted the lists of authentic candidates that will fly our party’s flag to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, using the appropriate channel as approved by the Electoral Act.
“Such lists in circulation are being peddled by mischief makers and those who do not wish the party well. However, the party is investigating the sources of such fabrications and leaks, as they are desperate attempts to sow ill will and create distractions within the party. This is to reassure our members that the NDC is robustly committed to building a party that would serve as a vehicle to liberate Nigeria from its present parlous state with the cooperation of everyone.”
