NDC Disowns Okey Ezeala, Says He Is Not Party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has publicly disowned Mr. Okey Ezeala, declaring that he is neither the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary nor a member of its leadership structure.

In a public disclaimer issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the NDC said Ezeala has been falsely presenting himself to party members and the general public as a national officer of the organisation.

According to the statement, Ezeala has never been elected or appointed as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary and does not belong to either the National Executive Committee (NEC) or the National Working Committee (NWC).

The party explained that the clarification became necessary following complaints from members across several states over what it described as Ezeala’s repeated misrepresentation of his status within the party.

The NDC alleged that Ezeala had been introducing himself as a senior party official and acting in ways capable of misleading members, political stakeholders, and members of the public.

It accused him of impersonation and warned that anyone dealing with him on matters concerning the party would be doing so at their own risk.

The party further alleged that some members had reported being approached by Ezeala with promises of securing party tickets and political appointments in exchange for financial payments, despite lacking the authority to make such commitments on behalf of the party.

According to the NDC, Ezeala also attempted to organise what it described as an unlawful party congress in Abia State, an exercise that allegedly resulted in the emergence of a parallel executive structure not recognised by the party.

The leadership maintained that Ezeala has never held any recognised office within the NDC at the national, state, or local government level.

“Mr. Okey Ezeala is not elected or appointed by any organ of our great party as deputy national publicity secretary or into our NWC or NEC as a member,” the statement read.

The party stressed that only duly elected and constitutionally recognised officials are authorised to speak or act on behalf of the NDC.

It advised members and the public to verify the identity and status of anyone claiming to represent the party before entering into political discussions or financial transactions.

The NDC further warned that Ezeala has no authority to convene meetings, issue directives, collect funds, negotiate political arrangements, or represent the party in any official capacity.

According to the statement, no organ of the party has mandated him to act on its behalf, and any documents, statements, or commitments issued by him should not be regarded as official communications of the NDC.

The party urged members nationwide to remain vigilant and avoid actions capable of creating confusion or division within its ranks.

It also encouraged anyone who may have been affected by Ezeala’s alleged activities to submit formal complaints to the office of the National Secretary for investigation and appropriate action.

Reaffirming its commitment to internal discipline and constitutional governance, the NDC said the disclaimer was issued to protect members from misinformation, preserve the integrity of the party’s structures, and prevent the emergence of parallel leadership ahead of future political activities.

The party concluded by reiterating its commitment to operating strictly in accordance with its constitution and warned against attempts by individuals to advance personal interests under the NDC’s name.
