By Israel Adamu, Jos

Nanmwa Jimmy Cheto, son of the late engineer and politician Jimmy Zintim Cheto, has declared his intention to contest for the Langtang South State Constituency seat in the Plateau State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Cheto, who is from Turaki Ward in Langtang South Local Government Area, announced his ambition in a statement issued on Wednesday.

He said he would contest on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), adding that his goal is to promote inclusive representation and sustainable development in the constituency.

According to him, Nigeria needs leaders committed to integrity, competence and transparency in governance. Cheto also expressed concern over what he described as the limited participation of young people in the political process, despite their population and potential contributions to governance.

He said his “Vision 2027” agenda would focus on youth empowerment, development and greater inclusion in decision-making.The aspirant called on political stakeholders, youths and community leaders across the constituency to support his bid, promising accountability and people-oriented representation if elected.

His father, the late Jimmy Zintim Cheto, served as Director of Engineering Services at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and was also a former governorship aspirant in Plateau State.
