NAF Strengthens Global Defence Ties At LAAD 2026

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinforced its drive for modernization and enhanced operational effectiveness through active participation at the LAAD Security & Defence Exhibition 2026 in São Paulo, Brazil.

A statement by NAF on Friday says that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, was represented at the event by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal A.Y. Abdullahi, who led the NAF delegation to the high-profile event, which drew official delegations from over 75 countries and more than 600 exhibitors, highlighting its global significance.

The engagement reflects NAF’s sustained push to deepen strategic partnerships, harness emerging defence technologies, and sharpen readiness against evolving security threats.

During the exhibition, the NAF delegation held strategic engagements with leading global defence manufacturers and industry experts across critical capability areas, including counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), precision-guided munitions, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) platforms, as well as advanced training and simulation solutions.

These engagements were further strengthened by technical discussions on system integration, fleet sustainment, and capability upgrades across key NAF platforms, ensuring alignment with modern warfare requirements and global air power standards.

Amid an increasingly complex security landscape, the role of advanced technology and robust defence partnerships remains central to mission success. Insights from LAAD 2026 are expected to boost fleet serviceability, enhance mission effectiveness, and fortify Nigeria’s air defence architecture.

The statement said the participation underscores NAF’s commitment to building a technologically advanced, mission-ready, and agile air force capable of securing national airspace, supporting joint operations, and driving innovation in the defence of the nation.
