Musa Warns That Terrorists Adapt by Relocating to Neighbouring Nations

As per a video published on the official YouTube platform of Arise News on Friday, May 29, 2026, Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, emphasized the need for enhanced regional collaboration in combating terrorism and border-related crimes impacting the nation.

In an interview discussing the current national security situation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, Musa pointed out that terrorist organizations exploit weak borders to evade military pressures and persist with their actions from adjacent nations.

“The terrorists typically react by moving to a different nation when you increase attacks on them,” Musa stated while addressing the security difficulties that Nigeria and other West African countries are encountering.

The Defence Minister noted that Nigeria has extensive borders with nations like Niger, Cameroon, Chad, and the Benin Republic, which highlights border control as a critical security issue. He mentioned that security forces are collaborating with neighboring countries via the Multinational Joint Task Force to ensure that terrorists do not secure asylum across borders.

Musa also shared that officials are enhancing surveillance and intensifying security measures in border communities to prevent armed groups from penetrating Nigeria.

He emphasized that collaboration among African nations is crucial in tackling terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and various other criminal activities within the region.
