Man City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma and pregnant girlfriend bound and struck with a knife during a Paris home invasion

Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his now-wife Alessia Elefante were bound, struck, and threatened with a knife during a 2023 home invasion in Paris, a French court was informed as the criminal trial began.

The 27-year-old international goalkeeper, who moved from Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester City in a £26 million transfer, submitted a formal witness statement detailing the break-in at his former residence on Avenue Montaigne. Over £430,000 in luxury items, including designer watches, cash, vehicles, and handbags, were taken during the assault.

According to court filings, intruder access was gained by scaling a ladder to the roof, dropping onto a balcony, and shattering the apartment’s glass windows while the couple slept.

In his witness statement, Donnarumma recalled waking to an intruder standing over him. The goalkeeper was punched in the face and threatened with a knife while being ordered to hand over luxury timepieces.

Elefante, who was pregnant at the time, detailed her account to investigators, stating that the assailants dragged her by the hair and struck her while demanding money and access codes to the property’s safe.

“They got angry thinking that I was lying. They pulled me by the hair and one of them hit me on the thighs. I said I was pregnant but they continued,” Elefante stated in her testimony.

Donnarumma subsequently provided the combination to the safe, which proved empty, before the intruders fled with luxury items, high-end watches, and keys to a Mercedes and a Lamborghini.

French prosecutors allege that Ilyas Kherbouch and Khyan Mamouni coordinated the operation from prison cells. Both men have denied involvement. Two suspects who were minors at the time of the offence have received three- and four-year sentences in youth court, while another adult defendant, Moktar Diop, admitted participation without physical violence. The trial continues in Paris.
