Makinde Is presidential material — Peter Obi
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has said Seyi Makinde is qualified to become President of Nigeria.
Obi made the statement on Monday at the inauguration of Makinde’s presidential campaign office in Abuja.
Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
Obi said he was willing to work with any candidate who wins the 2027 presidential election through a free, fair and credible process.
“We want a Nigeria of unity and inclusion. We have a candidate who is contesting for President today, my dear brother Makinde. Is he qualified to be President? Yes, he is qualified,” Obi said.
He said the 2027 election should not be about desperation or personal interests but about allowing Nigerians to freely choose their next leader.
Obi called on politicians to work together to build a better Nigeria, saying the country could no longer continue on its current path.
“All of us should come together to build a new Nigeria. We can’t continue the way we are going. Our people are hungry and poor,” he said.
The former Anambra State governor added that whoever wins the 2027 election fairly should be supported by others to help move the country forward.
“Whoever wins genuinely from a free, fair and credible election, we will all work together to save this country from collapse,” Obi said.
He also called for greater unity among politicians and urged them to move away from political disagreements and focus on improving the lives of Nigerians.
“That’s why I’m here to show solidarity and assure you that we are changing the system. We don’t want politics of quarrel or politics of disagreement.
“Let our quarrel be to feed our people. We want a Nigeria where the child of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody,” he added.
