MAGA Pushing Donald Trump To Release $400 Million War Chest For Midterms

Donald Trump‘s Republican allies are getting desperate, and they are staring straight at his $400 million piggy bank.

With midterm Election Day two months away and polls pointing toward a GOP wipeout, nervous lawmakers are now begging Trump to finally open up his massive MAGA Inc. war chest.

So far, though, the money has barely moved, fueling speculation about what Trump might be saving that cash for — something even bigger than this year’s midterms.

Republicans are hoping to get a share of Trump’s MAGA Inc. funds as midterm Election Day draws closer.

The money would typically fund advertising and other promotional activities for nominees, but little appears to have been distributed so far, even as many GOP candidates remain uncertain whether they will retain or gain seats after the election.

One of those calling for the release of Trump’s political war chest is Pennsylvania Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, who believes any further delay could hurt the party.

“I think certainly any resources that are on our side of the political aisle should be deployed sooner rather than later,” he said. “They should make sure that it gets out as soon as possible.”

Republicans Fear Trump’s War Chest Is Needed In Texas

At the moment, several GOP members believe Texas is one of the states most in need of the war chest.

This is closely tied to Trump’s decision to support scandal-ridden Ken Paxton over sitting Republican senator John Cornyn. As such, Democratic challenger James Talarico’s chances of claiming the seat continue to rise.

It is unclear whether Trump will ultimately deploy funds to the state to back Paxton, and experts have predicted a Democratic win if he does not.

“What are they waiting for?” said a Republican strategist. “If the president doesn’t step up, the Republicans will lose Texas.”

The nerves Republican nominees and other party members are feeling also aren’t coming out of nowhere.

On one hand, Trump’s approval ratings have sagged recently, with a Financial Times poll finding that most voters say they are worse off under his presidency. In particular, many Americans are dissatisfied with the U.S. war with Iran, as they have had to deal with consequences such as rising gas prices.

Given the circumstances, it is hardly surprising that they believe the war chest could help shift voters’ mood in their favor, especially if Trump’s charisma is no longer enough.

In the meantime, Trump has not indicated any intention to withhold the MAGA funds. Rather, he has suggested that he plans to release them, although he has yet to do so.

“I could spend it on pretty much anything I want,” Trump said of the war chest while speaking to Punchbowl News last month. “I’m going to help Republicans.”

MAGA Inc. spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer kept things vague but hinted at the possibility when confronted about using the war chest.

“MAGA Inc. is committed to retaining and building the GOP majorities in the House and Senate. We are not in the business of sharing our battle plans with the press,” he said.

Until Trump decides what he actually wants to do with the cash, nervous Republicans will just have to keep waiting and hoping.

Still, some experts believe these Republicans should find alternative sources of funding, as they suspect Trump is keeping his war chest for an entirely different purpose.

“I think the logical supposition at this point is that this is really a fund to not only advance Republican political goals in this election, but to help Trump essentially anoint his own successor in the 2028 election,” said Saurav Ghosh of the Campaign Legal Center.
