Former FBI profilers say techniques developed from decades of interviewing violent offenders could help inform the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old woman who vanished from her home in February. Retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jim Clemente, who worked in the Bureau’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), described how agents built a database by interviewing convicted serial killers, rapists and child abductors in prison, often years after their sentencing.
