Lagos state govt arrest mother for using bl@de to inflict injury on her 8-year-old son

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has arrested a mother for physically ab#sing her 8-year-old male child in the Alakuko area of Lagos State on Tuesday, 16th June 2026.

Preliminary findings indicate that the child sustained physical inj#ries and was rescued by concerned community members, who ensured he received urgent medical attention. The child’s biological mother, used a bl@de to inflict injury on the minor’s body, claiming he stole some money from her. She was subsequently apprehended, while relevant authorities commenced necessary investigations and legal processes.

The matter was charged to court on Wednesday, 17th June 2026, and heard before a Magistrate Court in Lagos State. Following the proceedings, the court directed that the survivor and his sibling be placed in protective care within an approved child protection facility. 

The defendant was granted bail under stipulated conditions, while the case was adjourned to 23rd July 2026 for further hearing.
