Kristo Asafo Members Hold Strange Rituals At Funeral Grounds After Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s Burial

Members of the Kristo Asafo Mission have held a strange ritual “Shower of Blessings” following the burial service of their late founder, Apostle Prof. Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region.

Videos from the event show mission members gathered around an elaborately designed water fountain shaped like the African continent, adorned with portraits of the late Apostle and topped with a decorative star, as jets of water sprayed into the air amid celebration.

The ritual, a signature feature of Kristo Asafo Mission ceremonies, is typically performed to mark significant occasions with prayers of gratitude and renewal.

The burial brings to a close weeks of public drama surrounding the funeral arrangements, which had been contested between rival factions of the Kantanka family, with an Accra High Court injunction briefly threatening to derail proceedings altogether.

Despite the legal uncertainty, mourners had continued gathering at Gomoa Mpota in large numbers ahead of the ceremony.

Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, celebrated as one of Ghana’s most influential inventors and industrialists, founded both the Kristo Asafo Mission and Kantanka Automobile, cementing his legacy as a pioneer of indigenous African manufacturing and technological innovation before his death last year.
