Kourtney Kardashian reveals heartbreak after miscarriage
American reality television star Kourtney Kardashian has revealed that she and her husband, Travis Barker, were left devastated after suffering a miscarriage early in their relationship.
Kardashian disclosed that she became pregnant about six months after turning her long-standing friendship with the Blink-182 drummer into a romantic relationship in 2021.
The couple were expecting a baby girl and had already chosen the name Tulip before losing the pregnancy at about three months.
Barker recalled that a doctor delivered the devastating news during a medical appointment after discovering that the baby no longer had a heartbeat.
“When we lost the baby, we were devastated. We just laid in bed and cried for days,” Kardashian said.
The 47-year-old spoke about the loss in Barker’s new documentary, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, which premiered on Hulu on 13 August
Kardashian said the couple had desperately wanted to have a child together and initially felt everything had fallen into place when she became pregnant.
Following the miscarriage, their doctor recommended in vitro fertilisation.
Kardashian and Barker subsequently made five IVF attempts over eight months, but none resulted in a successful pregnancy.
The reality star said the treatment placed enormous pressure on her physically and emotionally, leaving her feeling as though her body was shutting down.
She recalled becoming increasingly disappointed after each unsuccessful attempt and eventually telling Barker that she could no longer continue with the process.
The couple decided to stop IVF and leave open the possibility of conceiving naturally.
About a year later, Kardashian became pregnant without fertility treatment.
She and Barker welcomed their son, Rocky Thirteen Barker, in November 2023.
The couple had previously documented parts of their fertility journey on the family’s reality television series, The Kardashians, but had not publicly disclosed the earlier miscarriage.
Barker said they decided to share the experience because many people could relate to miscarriage, unsuccessful IVF treatments and the emotional strain of trying to have a child.
He expressed hope that their story would help others experiencing pregnancy loss or fertility difficulties feel less alone.
